Breathing disorders can be very difficult for people to manage, at time preventing activity, and when more severe making routine tasks such as taking a shower or walking up a set of stairs challenging. The vocal cords open to allow air to pass, which then travels through the trachea, or windpipe. Narrowing of any of these structures cause shortness of breath.
